## What is the Hijab Kiswa project? An ongoing project that provides modest hijab free of charge to women and girls across Syrian governorates. Nothing is paid and nothing is asked in return: a woman who asks for a hijab receives it as a gift. The work began as distribution only. When demand at events exceeded what was available, the project moved into production: manufacturing started in Aleppo on 5 September 2026 to cover requests from every governorate. Your donation today does not simply buy a ready-made piece; it keeps a local production line running inside Syria. ## Who is this project for? Women and girls inside Syria who want modest hijab and whose circumstances do not allow them to buy it. This includes students at institutes and schools, women of families in need, and those whose relatives request on their behalf — as happened in Aleppo, when men from the neighbourhoods came forward asking for hijab for the women of their households. Nothing is required of the recipient. No commitment form, no promise, no follow-up. The approach rests on gentleness and simplicity, far from coercion, insistence or guardianship. ## How is it carried out? **Production.** Quantities are made in Aleppo. This saves the project the cost of importing, employs Syrian hands, and makes the product match what women actually ask for rather than whatever the market happens to stock. **Distribution.** Carried out by field teams made up of people from each governorate, because someone from the area knows its needs and customs, and is more readily accepted than an outsider. **Organisation.** Events are held with full separation between men and women, organised so as not to block the road or disturb neighbours, and after coordination with the competent authorities — some events have been held with direct support from Awqaf directorates, including the Tariq Al-Nour Institute event in Qudsaya. **Documentation.** Every distribution is published in the media center on this site: date, location, and photos from the field. ## Where has the project reached? In recent weeks Al-Dahabi teams have reached: - **Aleppo** — Al-Shaar and Al-Halwaniyeh - **Damascus** — Umayyad Square - **Rural Damascus** — Deir Al-Asafir and Qudsaya - **Homs** — Al-Houla and Taldou - **Deir ez-Zor** — the western countryside - **Quneitra** — the town of Qusaybah The work continues and the lists remain open. According to the page, daily demand reaches about one thousand hijabs. ## How can I contribute? The project accepts one-time and monthly donations. Monthly giving is the most useful here: production is continuous and demand does not stop, and a steady contribution allows manufacturing to be scheduled in advance rather than waiting on an emergency appeal.
